Before the Shoot
We arrange a time that I will come to your house to do the portrait shoot. You need to decide what you will wear, and give some thought to where you would like to do the shoot. If children will be involved, they need to be told a photographer will be coming to take some pictures of the family and of them individually. Younger children could choose a favourite toy to have in their picture; older ones should be involved in the planning of the shoot.
During the Shoot
After I arrive, I will spend a little time getting to know the family, talking to everyone, and trying to get to know the personalities of the individual members a bit. This will help to relax everyone, and make the pictures more natural. I will then take a quick scout around to look at the areas you have chosen for your shoot, or choose some more.
I will then start the shoot. I keep a very flexible approach, especially when dealing with young children and pets, as they tire quickly. I will follow younger children around; go to their rooms, their favourite places. If there are reluctant smilers in the group, I have proven techniques to deal with that too. I will do group and individual shots, or just adults, or just children, whichever combination of people you would like. The most important thing is to keep everyone relaxed and happy to get the best images possible.
After all the pictures are taken, we will finish the paperwork and payment, and you can have a preview of the images we shot.
After the Shoot
Within a week, you will have proofs to check in your private gallery on this site. From there, you can decide which images you would like in which size. When you place your order with me, I transfer the files to the professional lab I use. The prints take approximately 2 weeks to arrive from the time I order them.
